A Gift Card just for You

This upcoming week I’ve got a “Gift Cards are Great” class where each participant will make 5 various gift card holders. It is going to be so much fun! The last project for the class has been giving me a hard time. I knew what I wanted to do but had to make it more “my style”. So this is what I came up with.

I was inspired by the SCS Colour Challenge this week using Going Gray, Basic Black, Whisper White, Barely Banana and Lavendar Lace.

The base of this gift card is a medium Whisper White envelope.

The front of the gift holder was layered with stripes of the above mentioned colours all matted on black. I then used watercolour crayons and my aquapainter to colour the large Pretties flower with Lavendar Lace.

In the centre, I added a sentiment from Oval All coloured in with markers and then layered on a black scallop oval.  On the inside of the folded envelope, it looks like this:

The giver of the gift card can write on either side and we’ve included a birthday sentiment. Now, for the gift card. I couldn’t just put it in the open envelope slot. I had to do something “fancy”. So, I ran a piece of Barely Banana cardstock through the Sizzix Big Shot with the Top Note die and then cut it down to fit into the pocket. Now, you adhere the gift card to the Top Note piece and it slides out like so….

Check back next week for the rest of the great gift card projects we’ll be making at the class. Or, if you live on the beautiful WestCoast of British Columbia and want to join in the fun, contact me!
