Heartfelt Flowers (CCMC

It’s time for another great challenge at Create with Connie and Mary. I really do love sketch challenges and had so many ideas when I saw this one. After Christmas, I realized that I had a bunch of unopened new products from the upcoming Occasions Mini so I decided to use them!

The base of this card is Crumb Cake. The large vertical layer is Rose Red and I tied on a large piece of Springtime Vintage fabric using some Linen Thread. I added a few extra loops of Linen Thread on over it, I added a cut out of flowers stamped from the new stamp set, Bordering on Romance. I stamped this image on some Watercolour paper and coloured it in.

I then splattered it a bit and added some Dazzling Details to the centre of the large flowers. In behind this is a Baja Breeze banner that was cut out using the Petal Cone die.

For a little extra detail, I used the new (and exciting) Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders. I ran it through my Big Shot with some Crumb Cake designer series paper and cut it out (watch over the next couple of weeks to see what I did with the other piece!).

All in all, a pretty simple card and I’m super happy with it! Switch out colours and elements but this layout is certainly one that can be used over and over.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with – play along at Create with Connie and Mary!

Sale-A-Bration Squared (KKC08)

WOW – I have been a bad blogger lately! But forgive me, between the holidays, work and a trip to Mexico, I think a break was necessary!

Today I’m super excited to show you some new products just in time for a new KKC Challenge!

The base for this card is Pool Party and I’ve layered it with some Cherry Cobbler and then a layer of Pool party which I made a squared texture on it (to mimic the tiles in the inspiration photo) using my Simply Scored.

I again played with the tiles and made my own four in the centre. I used the SAB stamp set, Freshly Vintage and stamped the image in Pool Party, punched it out and added a little centre stamped with Cherry Cobbler.

Behind this layer I added a little tie of Pool Party Baker’s twine (kinda like having a towel in the bathroom photo, no?).

Underneath, I added a sentiment from Loving Thoughts which I stamped in Basic Gray (a la the bathroom tap in the photo).

This was a fun card to make and I was super happy to get back into the craft room and play with my stamping products again!

I do hope you’ll join in the fun at the KA-POW Kreative Challenge this week, head on over the official page and see who is Guest Designing for us this month!

I do (CCMC181)

I loved this new challenge at Create with Connie and Mary. Simple and to the point. That was my approach on this card. Simple. To the point.

The base is Basic Gray and I’ve layered Whisper White on a layer of Whisper White that was textured with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.

On the uppermost layer, I used the Silver Glimmer paper and cut out the letters “i do”. Again, simple. To the point.

To finish, I added a strip of Vellum that was stamped with the congratulations stamp from Delightful Dozen. It is affixed with a mini Silver Brad and a glue dot under the word itself.

Although the glimmer paper surely screams Christmas, there is more you can do with it. Let’s see what’cha got. Won’t you play along at Create with Connie and Mary this week?

A Final Goodbye (Inkspirations #100)

Today I say a final farewell to the Inkspirations Team. I am sad to no longer be playing along with the gals on the Design Team but I’m sure I’ll see them all around blogland!

For this final challenge (#100), we were to create a holiday project. And boy did I do that. This past weekend we hosted my brother-in-law’s wedding and I made the most gorgeous cake topper. I’d love to show it to you all in good form but unfortunately our camera went a’walking and I have no idea where it is! For now, I’ll show you a poor photo from my hubby’s phone….

I really should have took a photo prior to sticking this on the cake but it was a pretty rushed request to get it done! I made a large Cherry Cobbler Flower using the Fun Folds and Flower Fancy dies, there are little rolled Very Vanilla roses and in the back, I made my own paper pinecones.

I hope to find my camera very soon so you can see this in all it’s glory but for now, here you go!

Please head on over to the Inkspirations blog and join in the fun this week! Check out what the rest of the DT has done!

Under a Mexican Sun (CCMC180)

Time for a new sketch challenge from Create with Connie and Mary and a very quick write up for me! I’ll be away from the computer for a bit and trying to get everything squared away.

This card was made for a gal who is getting married in Mexico next week (my kid’s cheer coach). I wanted to use the colours of Mexico and emulate a warm sunny day.

I used the Plant Hope stamp set, embossed and watercoloured the tree, cut it out and added it with dimensionals. I sponged on the sun and then sponged clouds and stamped the birds from Uncharted Territory using my Stampin’ Write marker.

Come and play along with Create with Connie and Mary this week – we’d love to see what you can do!

KA-POW Kreative Challenge Super Squad (KKC07)

Sketches can be such fun and I’m so thrilled to see the challenge cards this week. Another BIG thank you to Brandi Wiggins-Cote for joining us this week as guest designer – she certainly did not disappoint!

The next KKC challenge will post on 27th as there are a few on the DT who will be away – thank you for your patience and I hope you’ll join us when we’re back.

It was a landslide this week for Superhero this week:

Jenny Engelke

Her card is beautiful.  I love her use of non-traditional Xmas colours on an Xmas card.  The textured bulbs are so adora-bulb!

Jenny’s use of colours and clever interpretation of the staggered embellishments from the sketch with her Christmas lights is adorable. Love the lil touches of silver glimmer paper and sentiment in various colours –they just top it off!! Well done!

I like the Christmas tree lights the best: I love the embossed bulbs, such a “bright” idea!

Jenny, you can click here to pick up your badge for your blog sidebar. Thank you again for playing along with us and we hope you’ll join us again at KA-POW Kreative Challenge next week! Watch the blog for an awesome challenge coming soon…..

Stocking Duo

Just stoppin’ in quickly to share a duo of projects (card and tag) that I did at a recent class.

I used my Simply Scored tool to make a fun quilted stocking! Just score your cardstock every 1/4″ and then punch it out on an angle – VOILA, quilted stocking!

I thought this combo was a fun and different colour combo for the holidays. Sorry, gotta duck out to work and get some more presents wrapped. Check back tomorrow to see who rocked the KKC challenge!

Heartfelt Sympathy (Inkspirations #99)

Unfortunately we sometimes have the need for sympathy cards and this week was one of the weeks I needed one. I used the Inkspirations challenge sketch as my starting point.

I actually turned the sketch on it’s side this time. For the three items along the bottom, I used three hearts which were sponged with Soft Suede ink.

The large central layer is Crumb Cake and then layered with Soft Suede and Very Vanilla. I really wanted the sentiment to stand out so I stamped some of the outline images from Awash with Flowers. For a little added detail, I actually paper pierced a few flowers and added basic pearls for interest.

To finish off, I added some accessories: First Edition designer paper, Crumb Cake seam binding and an Antique brad.

I do hope you’ll find some time to play along with us at Inkspirations this week. For more inspiration, check out what the rest of the DT has come up with:

Beautiful Bonsai (CCMC179)

I love when a plan comes together. When I saw this week’s challenge at Create with Connie and Mary, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. This does not happen often – a lot of the time, I’ll come up with an idea and it ends up looking completely different. This time, it looked just like I wanted!

I used Basic Gray for the base and then I cut two patterns out of the Tasteful Trim out of Basic Gray (I also sponged these). I then layered thin strips of Lucky Limeade on those pieces.

I cut out an oval using Watercolour Paper and then stamped the bonsai tree from Plant Hope in StazOn and watercoloured with the challenge colours.

Lastly, I added a sentiment in Basic Gray.

I love the crisp simplicity of this card and I can’t wait to see what you all do with this awesome colour combination at Create with Connie and Mary!

Festival of Flowers (KKC07)

Today is time for another KA-POW Kreative Challenge!  I got a little flower crazy with this one and, honestly, I’m super happy I did! Make sure you check out the official KA-POW Kreative Challenge page for some great design team samples!

The base for this card is Crumb Cake and I’ve layered it with another layer of Crumb Cake that was embossing with the Tulip Border and then sponged with Soft Suede.

Next, I added some Early Espresso and a layer of Lucky Limeade. On this layer, I’ve added a BUNCH of flowers. I cut them out with my Big Shot and the Fun Flowers die. I also used the Boho Blossoms punch and various embellishments (pearls, bitty buttons).

In keeping with the sketch, I added a ruffle of crochet lace and then a sentiment up top from Style Beautiful.

I’d love to see what you can come up with using this great sketch! Play along with us at KKC this week, won’t you?
