This week at Create with Connie and Mary, there is a great sketch challenge for you all to try. Sketch, you say? Carrie this does not really resemble the sketch. Ahhh, but yes, it does. With a sketch challenge, you, the crafter, may take some creative license with moving a few things around. Remember that when you do a sketch challenge. Your card is your interpretation of the sketch, you don’t always have to keep your creation completely true to it. So here is what I did.
The base is Certainly Celery and I ran the base through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots folder. Next, lets talk about the bottom layers.
The very bottom layer is Melon Mambo and above that is Old Olive. I scallop edged the Old Olive piece, added a very thin strip of Certainly Celery cardstock and a ruffle of Rich Razzleberry Taffeta Ribbon – these two stripe elements are in keeping with the sketch challenge this week (interpretation, see?).
Next, for the sparkling bits. I cut out two cardboard open circles from the Simple Alphabet Dies. I glued them together and then added a whole bunch of Tombow to the outside and sprinkled glitter on top.
In the centre, I added larger Rich Razzleberry circle and a Whisper White circle on which I stamped the trio of stockings from Gifted in coordinating colours. The centre one was stamped again and added with a dimensional.
Lastly, I added a Rich Razzleberry Taffeta bow with an Old Olive button in the centre along with a sentiment from Four the Holidays.
Yes, not totally on sketch and certainly a different holiday card combination but it’s pretty, no? I’m really happy with it.
Now head on over to Create with Connie and Mary and let’s see what you come up with!
