Love is the Key

This card is the culmination of three challenges:

Many of you may not know that I am a Docent at a local historic site, Historic Stewart Farm. I volunteer my time leading tours to school aged children around the house and the grounds, showing them what it was like to live in 1894. I have an authentic costume that I wear (with petticoat!) and I just LOVE it!

The coordinator extraordinaire at the farmhouse recent got married and I have yet to make her a card. Well, I knew it had to be somewhat Victorian but super special. So I decided that I’d play all these challenges at the same time and hopefully make a card to suit the occasion.

The base is So Saffron and is layered with Poppy Parade and Peach Parfait. I then stamped the large flower from Elements of Style on some watercolour paper with jet Black StazOn and watercoloured with the challenge colours. I then spritzed it with my Air Spritzer tool and my Chocolate Chip marker. Of course I roughed up some edges….

In keeping with the sketch, I added three different elements into my ruffled Crocheted lace trim. First, a couple of Trinkets brads up top. In the middle, a cut out key from Artistic Etchings and a tag from Tiny Tags pinned on with a Trinkets pin. And, at the bottom, an Antique Brad.

For the Big Shot challenge, I used a tag from Lots of Tags Sizzlets in Old Olive. I layered it with a Curly Label in So Saffron and I used watercolour paper for the saying itself. In addition to using my Big Shot for the tag, I also used it inside:

I cut out some leaves from the Little Leaves sizzlet in textured Old Olive cardstock. I added a stamp from Artistic Etchings and “Mr. & Mrs” from Tiny Tags. I also stamped and cut out a flower from the same flourish of flowers I stamped on the front.

Thanks for stopping by!
