You Totally Rock

So, I am to sad to say that this year (again) I was not an Artisan Award winner. I am bummed but I don’t wish that to take away from the glory of the winners! I am thrilled for you all! I am going to be posting all of my projects in July (while I’m at Convention so I can pre-do the posts) but in the meantime there are many who are posting their projects now. Here are a list of some of the blogs you could view:…&ppuser=162570

But for now, I’m going to post a card that helped me get out of my “funk” from not winning.

For the first time in a long time, I wasn’t inspired by a sketch (WOW) but this time by a colour combination – this week’s challenge from ColourQ – Ballet Blue, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip and Pumpkin Pie.

The base of the card is Certainly Celery and I’ve layered it with Whisper White and then a piece of Pumpkin Pie which I ran through my Sizzix Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. The lower corners of both of these panels have been rounded with my corner rounder punch also.

For the centre, I cut out a Top Note with my Sizzix Big Shot in Chocolate Chip and ripped an edge off. Behind this, I added a strip of Ballet Blue over which I tied some 5/8″ Brocade Blue Grosgrain (the colour is pretty close!).

On the Top Note, I added quite a few things. First, I started with the heart. I took a piece of cardstock and glued on various strips of coordinating cardstock. I then ran it through the Big Shot with the Hearts & Brackets die. I added it to the Top Note and “stitched” around it with my white gel pen.

Next, I stamped the little guy from All in the Family and coloured it in with a blender pen and coordinating inks. I punched it out with my 1 3/4″ circle punch. I then used the notation cloud and saying from Crazy Cool. I stamped it in StazOn and shaded it slightly with Ballet Blue. This is added on with a dimensional.

To finish it off, I added a few coordinating buttons tied with linen thread in the lower left corner. I felt it gave the card some balance.

I plan to use this card for Father’s Day I think (from my son to my hubby). I’m really thrilled with these colours together. So much so that I did a second card but you need to wait to see that one!
