New Baby, Part 1

It seems there must be something in the water around here. There are two local SU demonstrator friends who have recently had babies – one a girl and the other a boy. What does this mean? An excuse to make a baby card! I love making baby cards!

So, for this first one, let’s focus on the girl card –

I “borrowed” a few pieces of this card from the current Idea Book and Catalogue, pages 46 and 47. I got the colour combo of Kraft, Pink Pirouette, Baha Breeze and Certainly celery as well as making a little square box out of the photo corner punched pieces from those pages. Remember, use your catalogue as an Idea Book not just a catalogue – it is filled with some amazing ideas. And, the pictures must have been taken by a great photographer as they rock too!

I stamped the outline flower from Holiday Blitz in Whisper White craft ink on the background of the card and added a strip of the really really wide Pink Pirouette grosgrain and then I added a piece of “pulled taffeta” and adhered it with two pink brads on either end.

How did I make that taffeta? I’ve got a video tutorial coming soon but in the meantime, snip a vertical cut into the end of the ribbon and pull one of the threads. Hard to explain but simple really….

I then used two sentiments from Nursery Necessities and stamped them – one on the card and the other on some white cardstock which I punched out with the photo corner punch. I made a second photo corner and adhered to some Baha textured cardstock with a pink button in the middle.

Now, off to the mailbox…..

  1. I happen to know that you DO make very cute baby cards! šŸ™‚ This one is darling, too.

  2. Ohhh…I love love love that frilly pink ribbon on the bottom. Reminds me of bloomers!

Tagged ya on my blog šŸ™‚

  3. I’m getting into a “love of certain neutrals phase”. #1- Kraft, #2- Basic Gray, #3- B&W used by themselves! You certainly have a way with pairing pastels and Kraft and I soooo LUV it! KEWL! And i am sure that the recipient will adore it!

Thanks for taking the time to comment, I very much appreciate it!
