One Set Sunday (May 4, 2008)

I’ve got birthdays on the brain. This month alone sees birthday for my daughter, father and mother in law, myself and my father (with my mom in the first couple of days of June). It is going to be a busy month so you’ll probably be seeing LOTS of birthday cards in the upcoming weeks.

For this week’s One Set Sunday, I’ve used the set Eat Cake. I got this set for FREE at my very first Convention and decided to use it today because it is birthday themed but also because Convention registration is on Tuesday!

Here is my creation:

I started with a Garden Green card base and layered it with Basic Black and Gable Green. I stamped the top 2/3 of the green piece with the little stars using gable green ink.

I cut a strip of black cardstock and another of white. I stamped the large “to/from/date” stamp in Regal Rose and stamped it in a line on the white cardstock. I then stamped the swirl in black ink in each stripe.

I stamped “happy birthday” in black ink on some garden green cardstock and punched it out with my designer label punch. The words ended up too close to the edges so I also punched out two 1/2″ circles and added them to each end of the punched salutation. I then threaded through some black gingham ribbon.

Lastly, I added a present and two balloons stamped in coordinating colours which I’d cut out and used dimensionals on. I added some linen thread to the bottom of the balloons so it looked like they’d been tied.

I think I may have fallen in love with this colour combination – it is just so great. I may have to re-think my Convention swaps now……

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
