This week’s sketch challenge on SCS seemed daunting at first. Then I made one. Then two! Here is the first:
Now, keep in mind, this has been turned on it’s side. I started with a Blue Bayou card base and layered a large panel of Bashful Blue. I stamped that layer with the star from All Through the Year and sponged the edges. The smaller blue panel is Brilliant Blue and it is stamped with the star from Holiday Blitz. I then tied three knots of blue gingham ribbon around that piece.
For the main part, it is layered as follows: Summer Sun, Brilliant Blue and Whisper White. I stamped the image from Labelicious in Bashful Blue and added four Brilliant Blue brads. I punched out a star in Summer Sun and stamped the number ‘4’ on it from Short Order Alphabet. Oh, did I say my son has a birthday party to go to this weekened?
Lastly, I stamped the ‘happy birthday’ from All Holidays in Brilliant Blue. Okay, now something completely different:
My daughter has a birthday party to go to this weekend too!
This is the way the sketch is supposed to look. I had found a piece of Dots and Dashes retired paper yesterday while sorting so this was the starting point for the card. I started with a Pumpkin Pie card base and decided that I wanted all rounded corners so I grabbed my corner rounder punch and went to work.
After adhering the designer paper, I made the horizontal piece of Pixie Pink. I stamped it with the preset from All in the Family and tied some white grosgrain around it. I stamped the ‘happy birthday’ from It’s Your Birthday in Basic Black and adhered to the card.
The panel is layered like so: Pumpkin Pie, Pink Passion, Whisper White. I stamped the little girl and her accessories in Jet Black Staz On and then watercoloured using my aquapainter. I rounded the corners of each piece of cardstock and doodled a little and then added it to the page.
This is a great sketch, one I’ll most certainly use again!
