The Ways to Use It challenge on SCS this week was FANTASTIC! I had SO much fun with this. This was one of those challenges where I knew exactly what I was going to do and it was going to work out PERFECTLY. Right? NOT!
I wanted to do a square card so this one is 4.25″ x 4.25″ square.
I started with a Soft Sky cardbase and layered it with Wild Wasabi which was stamped with the linen background. I knew I had to use some tags from my Rose Red tag sheet for “hinges” corners on the left border. I adhered these using some silver brads. I also knew I wanted to use some Pumpkin Pie and Rose Red cardstock. This is a great colour combo I got from the new In Colour combo chart from Stampin’ Up!
But this is where I got stumped and started to stamp too fast and started to mess up.
I markered up a sentiment from In My Thoughts and wanted to use this to dress up the upper right corner. I thought this would fulfill the challenge wonderfully (I still think so) and I wanted to extend it to the lower corner…..grrrrr….
I started to stamp and mask off the lower layer and realized I didn’t clean the stamp well enough and had some extra words stamped on the Wasabit layer. Oh gosh, oh gosh – what am I going to do to cover this up?
I fumbled around and decided to add a little layered square in the bottom right corner and adhere my focal point to that.
I punched out a Pumpkin Pie scallop circle and layered it with a 1 3/8″ wasabi circle and then a Rose Red stamped heart from All Through the Year.
All in all and after all the trouble – I LOVE THIS CARD!
