A Special Request

A very good friend of mine called this morning asking for two Mother’s Day cards. She is travelling with her family this week to see the “moms” and she needed some cards. Great excuse to stamp! And, with a great Colour Challenge today on SCS and my weekly challenge from Greg, this was just what I needed to get started!

I grabbed my Double Line Doodles set (coming in the new catalogue!) and used that as my starting point. I am participating in a swap with new sets and continually need inspiration with this set. I grabbed Certainly Celery, Cameo Coral and Chocolate Chip paper – enough “C”s for you? And got a stampin’.

I started with grass – a 1 1/4” strip of celery cardstock cut randomly with scissors. Then, for the right side of the card, I was to add a panel. I used some coral cardstock and fronted it with chocolate. I stamped the chocolate with the long paisley stamp from the set in black ink and adhered to the coral. I used my horizontal slot punch to punch a hole at the top and added some celery and chocolate grosgrain. I decided at the end to fray the celery ribbon a bit. I also used my tag corner punch to “tag-out” the corners.

I stamped the stem and flower from Double Line Doodles in black on celery and coral cardstock, respectively and cut them out. I then adhered them to the “tag” piece. I wanted to add a little something extra at the end so I added colourful buttons tied with linen thread.

I lastly took the Happy Mother’s Day stamp from AYC and stamped it in Chocolate Chip. I really ended up liking the layout….do I see another Convention swap in my future?
