I’m super excited to share that I’m the August guest designer at The Paper Players. I love this blog. They have some fantastic challenges and the ladies are just wonderful. Here is my first challenge:
Hmmm, school…….Got a few more weeks until that happens at our place. I’m actually hoping the summer slows down a little because the kids going back to school means I’m going back to work! Speaking of work, this week’s project was a lot of it. Actually it is a non-winning Artisan Award entry for this year. I’d been meaning to post it but then when this challenge came up I thought, “why not wait” and use it? So that is what I did.
The base for this card is Crumb Cake and then layered with Old Olive, Basic Black and then Naturals Ivory. On this Naturals Ivory piece, I printed the Letterpress background from My Digital Studio and watercoloured in with coordinating colours on this card.
I made little mini chalkboards using wood sheets and blackboard sheets. I then added Simple Numbers in Naturals Ivory that were sponged with Crumb Cake. Behind these I added some Real Red cardstock that I punched with the spiral edge punch punch and then added some 5/8″ Old Olive grosgrain.
Various buttons were added on the design and then I made a little clipboard and pencil (these are my favourite parts!).
The clipboard is actually the tag from the Baskets and Blooms Big Shot die. On it, I added some Newsprint designer paper and a mini library clip. The apple “4u” is from the hostess set, Apple Blossoms.
The pencil is made with More Mustard, Basic Gray, Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake cardstock.
I just loved this card, it broke my heart to send it away and I had to be held back from tearing it off the wall when I was at Convention.
So what does going back to school mean to you? Show us! Visit The Paper Players blog and play along with us this week! Need to be inspired before you play along? Check out the awesome Design Team samples.
