Let’s Sail Away – Inkspirations 79

It’s sketch challenge time at Inkspirations! I love sketches, you can interpret them in so many ways. Here is the sketch for this week:

I decided to use some great new products from our new catalogue – the Pennant Punch and  Just Add Cake designer paper.

The base for this card is Wild Wasabi and I added some extra texture by adding a bunch of 1 1/4″ circles of textured Wild Wasabi. I then made a panel of the designer paper layered with Early Espresso and then Baja Breeze.

You’ll notice a small strip of designer paper going horizontal across the card and I’ve added some Chocolate Chip Polka Dot Scallop Ribbon behind it.

For the focal panel, I used Peach Parfait, then Early Espresso and Whisper White.

I had the idea for this little boat as soon as I got my punch. First I sponged water using Baja Breeze and Marina Mist. Then, for the bottom of the boat I used a half of a 1 3/4″ circle in Early Espresso.  I made the porthole using the outside of a Clear Rhinestone brad. I took the centre bling out and then affixed it into the boat.

I punched out the designer paper for the sails and added them on with dimensionals.

Lastly, I added a sentiment from On Your Birthday and a little linen thread bow.

I hope you’ll find time to play along at Inkspirations this week! For a little more inspiration, check out what the rest of the design team has come up with:

  2. Totally cute!! Love the sailboat and the fun BG you created.

  3. That is awesome! What a great idea. Now I don’t have to be sad that I don’t have that cute sailboat set. Your attention to detail is either awesome or obssessive…you choose. LMAO!

  4. This is brilliant Carrie! Love your sweet little boat – great use of the penant punch. I think even more so, I love the subtle interest you have added with the fun background. Fantastic card. :)
