It’s All in the Box

Did you know that you can get a box pattern digital download for My Digital Studio? You can! And it’s super cool! Here are the two options you can choose from:

So, for the workshop I had last night, I knew I wanted to use this to make a super cute project for my hostess. Here is what the box looked like:

I printed the template onto some Wild Wasabi cardstock. I cut it out and stamped it with the Simple Snowflake. Along the bottom I added a strip of Candy Cane Designer Fabric with some 1/4″ Real Red Grosgrain and a Baja Breeze button from the Candy Cane buttons.

I added a little scallop circle of Real Red around the opening loop and then added a little rhinestone brad to highlight the open/close area.

For the top, I used matching colours and added a Whisper White snowflake with a little Medium Jewelry Tag in Blushing Bride. I stamped “merry” from Tiny Tags on it first and added in on with a Basic Rhinestone.

Lastly, I had to figure out what to put inside. Since the box came to 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 square, I decided that I’d make a little holiday tag kit with 2″ x 2″ square tags. Here is what the set looks like:

So I bundled 10 little tags together, wound some silver cording around a piece of cardstock and I added an Old Olive Craft Stampin’ Spot and a little holiday stamp.

This would make a perfect teacher gift or hostess gift for a friend who loves to stamp!

Thanks for stopping by and checking this project out. Have a great day!

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #50 – Ripped and Torn

This week on the Inkspirations Challenge Blog, Keesh has challenged us to use a great colour combination:

With my mind so much on the holidays, I had a hard time with this but decided to go relatively simple with my design as these colours totally pack a punch!

I used Pear Pizzaz for my base and then layered with Rich Razzleberry and some Tempting Turquoise which I textured with the Perfect Polka Dots folder.

Down the centre, I added some Rich Razzleberry Taffeta ribbon with a very thin strip of Pear Pizzaz cardstock.

For the central panel, I took some Rich Razzleberry cardstock and edged with the Scallop Trim Corner punch and border punch. I decided I’d leave to the top straight and added a half circle and a bow of Rich Razzleberry Taffeta ribbon.

I took a piece of Pear Pizzaz cardstock and layered it with a piece of Whisper White on which I’d stamped the dragonfly from Nature’s Nest in Rich Razzleberry. I stamped this image again in Tempting Turquoise and Pear Pizzaz and tore them, laid them over the original and adhered. A strip of vellum cardstock stamped with a sentiment from Fundamental Phrases completes this card.

I encourage you to check out what the rest of the Design Team came up with and please make your way over to the Inkspirations Challenge Blog and have fun with this challenge!

Give Thanks

This week at Create with Connie and Mary, our challenge was to create a small table favour for Thanksgiving. Well, I had my (Canadian) Thanksgiving quite some time ago now and made a great favour which you can see here.  Oh, and speaking of those, many of you asked for the quotes I put on them, well, here they are!

Thanksgiving Quotes 2010

As much as I loved those, I had to come up with something new so I played around and came up with this.

I first cut two Scallop #2 circles out with my Big Shot using Soft Suede cardstock. I then cut off about 6 scallops from the bottom of each. I added some Soft Suede designer paper to the bottom and a piece of Cajun Craze on which I stamped Happy Thanksgiving from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

I punched two holes in the top to thread some Very Vanilla Seam Binding through and tied on a bow and added an Antique Brad. Now, with the top put together, you could also use it as a place card holder. To finish the decoration, I stamped the leaf from Paisley Prints in Versamark once on Early Espresso and once on Always Artichoke. I sprinkled clear embossing powder on both, heated and cut out. They are added on with dimensionals. Now inside the favour….

Is a cut little 3 1/2″ x 2″ box which fits 2 (or 4 ) nuggets. Or, you could add a little bag of candy or anything else you may like.

I had a great time making this favour and can see how it could translate very nicely into many other occasions.

Now it’s your turn! Head on over to Create with Connie and Mary and let’s see what you’ve got!

I CASE-ed Myself!

I was looking at doing the last few Christmas Stamp-A-Stack cards for my last class in December and I was stumped!  I have made so many designs and I don’t ever re-do a design during a single holiday season. So, instead of reusing a design, I decided to CASE a card I’d made a while back that I LOVED – my little school bus card.

The base I used was River Rock. I added a second smaller layer again of River Rock that I ran through the Big Shot with the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder.

Next, a layer of Early Espresso designer paper across the centre and tied on some Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbon. I then added a distressed piece of Baja Breeze which I also punched with the spiral edge punch.

For the focal point, I stamped Dasher in Early Espresso ink on some Very Vanilla cardstock. I then stamped the long tree stamp from Lovely as a Tree in “stamped-off” River Rock so it is light and adds a great background touch.

The stamp “Peace on Earth” is from Four the Holidays and is stamped in Early Espresso.

Oh Baby

This card is the culmination of two challenges – first is this week’s ColourQ and the second is the SCS Sketch Challenge (however I did take some liberties on that one).

I decided to go neutral with a Whisper White card base as the colours for this week’s ColourQ were so vibrant. The farthest back panel is Rich Razzleberry which is textured with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.

Next, I added an Old Olive layer which I distressed on all edges and then I added a strip of Pumpkin Pie on which I used my Scallop Edge punch.

For the image layer, I again used Whisper White and stamped the buggy from Puns from the Past in Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive.

For the middle, I used the Naturally Serif Sizzlet Alphabet with Rich Razzleberry cardstock and then added a little “welcome” banner using the welcome from Heard from the Heart. I finished it all off with a Pumpkin Pie button tied with Rich Razzleberry cardstock. Oh wait, one more thing! I had to use More Mustard on this so I sponged the welcome banner and then used my Spritzer tool to spritz the buggy layer with More Mustard too.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Snowy Dec 25th – Inkspirations Sketch Challenge #49

This week on the Inkspirations Challenge Blog, there is a great sketch for you to try out! I was really inspired and decided to go with a holiday card. For the colours, I was inspired by the Christmas Cheer Simply Scrappin’ Kit.

The base for this card is Marina Mist and I made a tall vertical panel using the designer series paper in the kit. I ran it through the Big Shot with the Snowflake embossing folder and sanded it down a little. On the left side of this panel, I added a couple of self-adhesive die cut strips.

I made a small horizontal panel of another piece of designer paper (this is the opposite side of the striped piece). I roughed it up, added a little Always Artichoke behind it and a piece of self-adhesive die cut just off the front of the card.

I cut a Very Vanilla snowflake with the Snowflakes #2 die and in the centre added the Dec 25th circle from the Christmas Cheer Simply Scrappin’ Kit. I added a ruffle of Always Artichoke seam binding in behind for a little “flavour” and then some bling along the bottom using the basic rhinestones.

To finish off, I added three small circles from the die cuts and added the clear bubbles from the Build-A-Brads to give them a little accent and then I added a small sentiment from Four the Holidays in Always Artichoke and finished it off with a Rhinestone Brad.

Head on over to Inkspirations Challenge Blog try your hand at this sketch and check out what the awesome design team has done with it!

I need TEA!

This week at Create with Connie and Mary, we’ve got a great sketch challenge for you! I wasn’t sure what to do at first but once I got an idea, it was all systems go!

The base of this card is Old Olive and I used the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder on the very bottom. I then added some Very Vanilla to top the top of the base.

Across the lower middle area, I added a strip of Cajun Craze and over it some Crochet Lace trim.

For the side panel on the right, I added a piece of Baja Breeze cardstock which I punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch then I layered some Cajun Craze cardstock and a piece of Jolly Holiday designer series paper. I added a wee bit of this designer paper in the upper left corner and added a crochet lace bow with a great Baja Breeze button.

Now, for my favourite part! The tea bag!

What I did was cut a small rectangle of Very Vanilla. I then cut out a piece of Vellum paper a bit bigger. I wrapped it around the cardstock and adhered on the back. I then cut the tag/bag corners. I put on a a half circle of Cajun Craze and stapled on a tag. On the inside of the tea bag, I added some Early Espresso and Soft Suede little hearts that are left over from the Pinking Hearts border punch. Waste not, want not!

To finish off, I added a sentiment from Morning cup with a small watercoloured teacup adhered with a dimensional.

Now its your turn! Head on over to Create with Connie and Mary and give this sketch a try!

Products used on this project:

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze, Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Vellum.

Ink: Jet Black StazOn, Old Olive, Baja Breeze, Cajun Craze.

Stamps: Morning Cup.

Accessories: Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, linen thread, medium jewelry tag punch, scallop trim border punch, crochet lace trim, Candy Cane buttons, aquapainter.

Super Sugared Things

So this card is another “punch art” card but I used the Big Shot so it’s kinda like cheating a little…..I plan to use this card in a Stamp-A-Stack class this weekend. Quick. Simple. Clean. Cute. And, after a couple of pretty detailed designs of late, I’m happy to share my simple side with you.

The base for this card is Crumb Cake and I’ve added a layer of Crumb Cake designer paper to the far right. I used a 2″ x 4″ piece to maximize the DSP.

Behind this I added a Real Red scallop edge and tied over the seam with Early Espresso 1/4″ Grosgrain.

For the image, I used the saying from Sweet Season in Early Espresso. This sentiment is just perfect for this card! Then for the candy cane….I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I adhered a bunch of 1/8″ strips of Real Red cardstock. The best way to do this is to adhere a piece of Real Red cardstock to a Multi Purpose Adhesive Sheet and then cut with your paper trimmer. Then just pull the backing off and there you have it.

After your stripes are done, take the Simple Alphabet dies and cut out a “j” or a “g”. Both of these will give you the candy cane shape. Fun huh?

Hope you like it – have a great day!
